The firm supplies a huge range of
batteries, including industrial types, at competitive prices. It will be
happy to make up a "classic" battery, the top showing open
busbars, for those who wish to maintain a traditional underbonnet
appearance." Woodworking tools

Gordon’s
comment. Ron Nisbet is
the owner and manager -
a "proper car" enthusiast (OK, MG!) and very
helpful in advice on tool and spares purchase for all woodworking tasks. He
doesn't keep rubbish. His prices on serious woodworking machine tools readily
beat those on the Internet. Among his onsite machinery is a pattern-copying
set-up: take
him your beleaguered bit of ash -
cant rail,
A-post, etc - and he'll replicate it in new wood. Very useful to those of
us who are attempting to re-create or repair tatty coachwork. Rust-Oleum Metal
Primer
from local suppliers
Jim Dunbar (Red Oxide type) Code no. 769 Jim’s
comment. This primer is
specially developed for application to hand tool prepared sound rusted steel
surfaces. It is primarily intended for brush application. More info on www.ro-m.com I
have used it on Riley chassis and running gear with very good results. It is not
cheap but in my opinion, it does a superb job. After a thorough drying time of
two - three days depending on conditions I top coat it with Tractol. If you
apply Tractol before the Rustoleum is dry you will dissolve the previous layers.
My local stockist keeps supplies for the farmers who use it regularly on
machinery. Tractol
synthetic enamel from local suppliers
Jim Dunbar paints: BE27 Jim’s
comment.
TRACTOL synthetic
enamel paints. BE27 is an extremely versatile single pack product, which gives
excellent flow when applied by brush. It is widely used for equipment, machinery
and general steelwork painting. I have used Tractol on all chassis and running
gear for many years with very good results. It is very pleasant to use and the
finish 'off the brush' is great. I buy it locally at the same place as I buy
Rustoleum. Blasting/Dipping/Powder

COATECH can bead blast / dip wire wheels ,even chassis and will
powder coat to the colour of your choice. The price until now has been £25 per
wheel (late 2005) which is very good value. They can strip wheels and put back
your tyres as well ( for extra of course) lain Drummond had a steering wheel for
his Kestrel Sprite coated by them very cheaply - an
excellent job. If it helps I can hold items and hand them in/collect for SRE
members as I know Ewan quite well. WOOLIES (interior

comment. I have found this company very helpful indeed. The owners
have a collection of Prewar Rileys and they know their stuff. They do not
produce a catalogue but if you phone with a request or problem they will most
likely be able to help. They supply a large number of well known companies with
electrical goods and as a result if you buy direct the prices are good. Usually
next day delivery too. They regularly come up to Glamis Extravaganza.
Bill’s comments – a wholehearted endorsement for their
friendly helpfulness. They also
come to the Lanark autojumble and possibly others in the Borders area. Auto-electrical

I know of Steve Bourne’s work via a friend
who has had several dynamos brought back to life (including a 6 to 12
volt conversion). S.B. also sorts
out starter motors. He can re-wire
cars or produce one-off wiring looms but either is best done in his workshop.
