Scottish Riley Enthusiasts

National Weekend 25th - 27th May 2012

The Isle of Mull

Our 2012 SRE National Weekend will continue our traditional attractions of fine Riley Roads, good company, interesting places to go and exciting things to do, this time venturing over the sea to the breathtakingly-beautiful Isle of Mull, in the Inner Hebrides, off the West Coast of Scotland. Don’t worry - there’s a choice of ferry crossings, fairly short or even shorter!

You will drive amid stunning wild and sometimes mountainous landscapes, with unequalled views of the Atlantic coast. There’s the chance to visit nearby world-famous islands including Iona, with its renowned Abbey, and Staffa, site of inspirational Fingal’s Cave. Nature abounds, with deer, sea eagles, dolphins, whales and basking sharks to be seen by the keen eye. Linger in famous Tobermory, or explore the magnificent sands of Calgary Bay, look out over the battlements of an ancient fortress, or relax in a welcoming tearoom. In fact, the event is too short! We’ll help you plan a longer stay and make it truly memorable. Take advantage of “Saver” deals on the ferries.

If you have previously joined an SRE National Weekend, you’ll know how enjoyable it can be. New to a major SRE event? Come along and see what you’ve been missing!

Reps from the local Tourism office will be at the Hotel on Friday evening to answer any queries you may have regarding attractions on the island. They have also very kindly talked to the RSPB about the new Sea Eagle Hide at Glen Seilisdeir and have arranged with them for the Ranger to reserve the trip to the hide on Monday afternoon 28th May at 1:00pm for the SRE only. For any of you staying on this will be a great opportunity to (Hopefully) watch the eagles and hear about them from the ranger. The trip costs £6.60 per person and takes about 2.5 hours.

If you wish to join this outing could you please let me know so that the RSPB can make the appropriate arrangements.
